Apple has officially announced its full M4 Mac lineup, which includes a new entry-level MacBook Pro with M4 priced at $1,599, as well as the upgraded M4 Pro (or M4 Max) models in 14- and 16-inch sizes starting at $1,999 and $2,499 respectively. Additionally, there is a new 24-inch iMac with M4 and an updated Mac Mini with a compact design and M4 chip. Preorders for the desktop machines begin at $1,299 and $599 respectively, with all the new hardware set to launch on November 8th.
Among the new features of the 2024 Macs are faster processors and increased RAM to enhance the Apple Intelligence experience in macOS Sequoia 18.1. The entry-level M4 MacBook Pro, M4 iMac, and M4 Mac Mini now come with 16GB of RAM, up from 8GB in the previous models. The MacBook Pros with M4 Pro offer 18GB of RAM, down from 24GB in the previous models.
The design of most of the new machines remains familiar, except for the M4 Mac Mini which is noticeably smaller than its predecessor, the M2 Mini. It features a reconfigured I/O setup with a 3.5mm audio jack and two USB-C / Thunderbolt ports on the front, and three additional USB-C ports, gigabit ethernet, and HDMI port on the rear. The base M4 Mini retains Thunderbolt 4 connectivity, while the M4 Pro model is equipped with Thunderbolt 5.
The M4 MacBooks, Mac Minis, and iMac all come with upgraded 12-megapixel webcams supporting Apple’s Desk View mode, along with optional nano-texture displays for reduced glare. While the iMac maintains a similar appearance to its predecessor, it now comes in new color options and features the upgraded camera.
Preorders for the MacBook Pro with M4 start at $1,599 for the 14-inch model with 16GB of RAM and a 512GB SSD. Various customization options are available for additional storage, RAM, and display upgrades. The MacBook Pro with M4 Pro is priced starting at $1,999 for the 14-inch model with 24GB of RAM and 512GB of storage, with options for further upgrades including the M4 Max chip.
The M4 iMac can be preordered starting at $1,299, with various configuration options available at different retailers. The base model comes with 16GB of RAM, which can be upgraded, as well as options for additional storage and a nano-textured display.
