BBCRihab Faour at her temporary home in Beirut expressed the need to find something to fill her days. She had been fleeing Israeli bombs multiple times, starting in October 2023 when Hamas attacked Israel, leading to Hezbollah firing rockets into Israel and Israel retaliating by bombing southern Lebanon. Rihab, her husband Saeed, and their daughters Tia and Naya had to flee their village to Dahieh, a suburb of Beirut, where life was almost normal except for missing their belongings and online schooling.
As the bombings expanded to Beirut, the family moved multiple times, eventually settling in a rented house in Basta. However, tragedy struck when an Israeli bomb hit their new apartment, killing Saeed, Tia, and possibly Naya. Rihab woke up in the hospital, unaware of the loss until weeks later when she found out the devastating news.
Now, recovering from surgeries and grieving the loss of her family, Rihab shared memories of her daughters’ love for each other, their joy in simple pleasures, and their shared love for watching TikTok videos. She also reminisced about how she met Saeed and their life together before the bombings destroyed everything they had built.
