Sakira Nayla Lubis is the second child of Astabi Lubis and Efrida Yanti. Her father works as a fisherman laborer, while her mother sells vegetables at home.

Crying, Efrida Yanti expressed her gratitude for the presence of the Acting Governor of North Sumatra and told the story of what happened to her child. It all started on Thursday, February 1, 2024, when Sakira was teased or bullied by her friends. Sakira Nayla was mocked as being “crybaby” because she often cries.

Not willing to be bullied, Sakira, who is still in kindergarten, tried to fight back by pulling her older friend’s hair. Sadly, before Sakira could pull her friend’s hair, she was thrown and fell. Her head hit the corner of a table. Foam came out of her mouth, and her eyes closed as she lost consciousness. Sakira Nayla was then taken to the nearest hospital, but the hospital equipment was inadequate.

Impoverished Family

Due to Sakira Nayla’s critical condition, it was recommended that she be immediately taken to a hospital in Medan. Unfortunately, Sakira Nayla Lubis was not registered with BPJS Kesehatan (national health insurance). Therefore, her family faces difficulties in financing Sakira Nayla’s treatment, which requires immediate surgery.

Since her child was admitted to the hospital and required a large amount of money, Efrida has been trying to find a loan to cover the expenses. Sakira Nayla Lubis is not registered with BPJS Kesehatan. From Padangsidimpuan, she brought tens of millions of rupiah from a loan to pay the hospital’s down payment. Unfortunately, the collected money is still insufficient.

Efrida did not expect to receive attention from the number one person in North Sumatra. Moreover, Efrida has to face the difficulties alone. Her husband is still unaware of their child’s condition.

“My husband works as a fisherman in one of the companies. He takes a long time to come home, Mr. Acting Governor. It takes two weeks to travel from the sea to Padangsidimpuan. I have tried to contact his colleagues regarding our child,” she said.

Efrida also had to leave her other two children at home. Accompanied by her younger sibling, Efrida expressed her sincere gratitude for the attention shown by the Acting Governor of North Sumatra and his staff, who quickly moved to assist in her child’s recovery.

“I never expected Mr. Acting Governor of North Sumatra to come and help me. Someone with a high position, willing to come and help a small person like me who is facing difficulties. I pray that Mr. Acting Governor of North Sumatra stays healthy and all his affairs go smoothly. Thank you very much,” she said, tears streaming down her face.

Acting Governor of North Sumatra, Hassanudin, said he received news that one of our residents was sick due to being pushed and suffered a head injury.

“Immediate treatment is needed. So, I contacted the Head of the General Bureau and the Head of the Health Office to provide assistance to our resident. Today, I personally saw the condition of our resident who comes from Padangsidimpuan and is still being treated in the NICU,” said Hassanudin.

After hearing the story, Acting Governor Hassanudin stated that because Sakira Nayla comes from an impoverished family and requires attention from the government, the entire hospital administration will become the responsibility of the North Sumatra Provincial Government.

“I am very grateful that Mitra Sejati Hospital has acted quickly. I urge all hospitals, as public service providers, to immediately provide first aid to patients in need. Prioritize patient safety. Follow the administrative rules, but do not let them hinder the treatment process,” said the Acting Governor of North Sumatra.

Meanwhile, the Head of the North Sumatra Health Office, Alwi Mujahit, stated that Sakira Nayla’s condition is considered “severe” because it was already “severe” when she was admitted to the hospital. Sakira Nayla Lubis is currently still unconscious and in a coma.

“The ventilator is still attached, indicating the need for assistance to survive. But the operation has been carried out successfully. The problematic condition has been corrected, as there was a fractured skull that was pressing on the brain tissue. That is what caused her unconsciousness. Hopefully, after being treated, Sakira Nayla Lubis will recover soon,” said Alwi.
