Sean “Diddy” Combs was a highly sought-after producer in the rap and soul industry during the 1990s.

A lawyer representing multiple alleged victims of Sean “Diddy” Combs has stated that there could potentially be around 300 civil legal cases against the musician. Tony Buzbee, speaking to the BBC, revealed that his team has received approximately 3,000 calls since holding a news conference in October. Currently, 20 lawsuits have been filed by men and women seeking damages from Combs, with a projected total of around 100 to 150 cases. Some claims may not proceed to court due to the expiration of the time limit for filing claims in certain states.

Combs has refuted all accusations against him, labeling them as “sickening” and attributing them to individuals seeking a “quick payday.” His legal team has dismissed the civil lawsuits, including claims from 300 potential victims, as part of a “reckless media circus.” They claim that Buzbee’s press conference and the establishment of a toll-free phone number for tips were merely attempts to gain publicity.

According to Combs’ attorney Erica Wolff, he has full confidence in the facts and integrity of the judicial process, maintaining that he never sexually assaulted or trafficked anyone. Currently incarcerated at Manhattan’s Metropolitan Detention Center, Combs awaits trial on separate criminal charges of sex trafficking and racketeering, which he also denies.

Buzbee, known for his prominent presence in US legal circles, took on the Combs case after receiving calls about the star from his co-counsel Andrew Van Arsdale. Buzbee initiated a call for potential victims to come forward via an Instagram post, resulting in an overwhelming response of 3,000 calls within 10 days. The alleged victims, which include an equal number of men and women, have accusations spanning a 20-year period.

Anonymity for the plaintiffs has been maintained in the lawsuits, with names like John Doe or Jane Doe used in court documents. However, Combs’ legal team has requested the release of their identities to adequately prepare for any potential trial. In cases where plaintiffs were required to reveal their identities, Buzbee ensured they were prepared to move forward.

One particular lawsuit implicates other celebrities in Combs’ alleged crimes, including rap legend Jay-Z. Jay-Z has vehemently denied the claims, calling them “idiotic” and accusing Buzbee of attempting to blackmail him. The legal battle between the parties has sparked speculation that more high-profile music industry figures could become embroiled in upcoming trials.

The ongoing legal saga surrounding Combs continues to unfold, with both sides vehemently defending their positions in what promises to be a protracted legal battle.
