One notable change in iOS 18 is the ability to customize the default buttons on the lock screen. You can now replace the flashlight and camera buttons with other functions or remove them entirely. This feature is a relief for those who accidentally activate the flashlight. You can add buttons for music recognition, Dark Mode, setting alarms/timers, enabling Airplane Mode, accessing your Wallet, sending money via Tap to Cash, and more.
Another new feature is the Action button on newer iPhone models, which replaces the dedicated mute switch. You can now customize this button to perform various actions, such as opening the Camera app or using Shazam to identify songs. Simply go to Settings > Action Button to choose your preferred action.
iOS 18 also introduces the ability to rearrange apps on the home screen more freely. You can now position app icons nearly anywhere you want, allowing for a more personalized layout. Additionally, Dark Mode now applies to the home screen, offering options to color icons and adjust the brightness of the wallpaper image.
To customize the look of your home screen, enter “jiggle mode” by touching and holding the screen. You can then move icons to new positions and turn compatible apps into widgets for more information. Dark Mode can be enabled by tapping the Edit button and choosing Customize from the menu.
Overall, iOS 18 brings a range of exciting new features and customization options to enhance your iPhone experience. Explore these changes and make your device truly your own.
