Google hit the mark with the Pixel Fold, especially with its expansive cover screen and top-notch rear camera system. However, Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 6 has just been released, boasting a sleeker design and lighter build that has me eager for Google’s next foldable, the Pixel 9 Pro Fold. The Pixel 9 Pro Fold is set to be unveiled on Aug. 13, where we hope to learn more about Google’s smartphone strategy.
My biggest hope for the Pixel 9 Pro Fold is for Google to pioneer new software features specifically tailored for foldable phones. Despite advancements in hardware, software for foldable devices still seems lacking. While features like split-screen mode are helpful, I want to see more innovative ways to utilize the dual screens of foldable phones.
As the foldable phone market continues to grow, the Pixel 9 Pro Fold needs to keep pace with Samsung and address criticisms about its predecessor. This includes introducing more creative software features, a thinner and lighter design, an improved inner screen, extended software update timelines, and ideally, a more affordable price point.
In order to stand out in the competitive foldable phone market, Google must focus on enhancing the user experience with innovative software features and design improvements that set the Pixel 9 Pro Fold apart from its competitors.
