Yesterday, the annual Black List was released, shining a spotlight on some of Hollywood’s most talked-about screenplays that have yet to be brought to life. This year’s list featured a range of exciting sci-fi, fantasy, and horror concepts. Not stopping there, the Black List also introduced a new initiative called the Adaptation List, which highlights novels published since 2005 that are considered ideal source material for film and TV adaptations.
Among the Adaptation List picks are some standout titles, such as “Chain Gang All-Stars” by Nana Kwame Adjei-Brenyah, “The Fifth Season” by N.K. Jemison, “The Historian” by Elizabeth Kostova, “Klara and the Sun” by Kazuo Ishiguro, “Mexican Gothic” by Silvia Moreno Garcia, “The Monsters of Templeton” by Lauren Groff, “The Night Circus” by Erin Morganstern, “Night Film” by Marisha Pessl, and “Sky Full of Elephants” by Cebo Campbell.
These novels offer a wide range of captivating stories, from dystopian worlds to historical mysteries to magical circuses. Whether or not they end up being adapted for the screen, these books are definitely worth adding to your reading list for a thrilling literary experience.
