PM Images/Getty ImagesThe rise of generative AI technology began with the introduction of ChatGPT, but now this technology has found its way into various productivity platforms aimed at simplifying our daily workflows. While many people fear that AI will replace them in the workplace, the tools discussed here are designed to enhance work productivity rather than take over tasks.
These AI tools can assist with completing essential daily tasks, ultimately saving a significant amount of time in the long term. This allows for less time spent on administrative tasks and more time focused on enjoyable or high-value work activities. As someone who has been exploring and testing AI tools for ZDNET for over two years, I have found several tools that have become indispensable in my daily routine.
Here are some of my favorite AI tools that I use on a regular basis. Surprisingly, only one of these tools is an AI chatbot.
1. Grammarly
Grammarly has long been known for its AI-powered services that check for spelling, grammar, conciseness, and more in written content. I find the Grammarly for Chrome extension particularly helpful, as it can catch mistakes that I may have missed while writing on the go. This tool not only assists with basic grammar but also offers advanced features like text creation, idea generation, and tone adjustments.
2. ChatGPT
ChatGPT has become an essential tool in my workflow due to its conversational search engine capabilities and recent upgrades that have expanded its functionality. This tool can proofread, rewrite text, and even assist in writing code or generating Excel formulas. Additionally, the ability to upload screenshots, photos, and documents for analysis makes ChatGPT a versatile tool for various tasks.
3. Canva Pro
For graphic design tasks, Canva Pro offers a range of AI tools like Magic Edit and Background Remover to streamline the creation of social media posts, flyers, and presentations. The Background Remover feature, in particular, simplifies the process of isolating images and creating graphics without the need for additional editing software.
4. Otter.ai
Otter.ai is a valuable tool for transcribing conversations, making it a time-saving solution for students, professionals, and anyone who conducts interviews regularly. This AI assistant can transcribe voice recordings with speaker designations and time stamps, providing an efficient way to create meeting notes or highlights.
Overall, these AI tools have become integral parts of my daily workflow, helping to improve productivity and streamline various tasks.
