When I find myself in front of my PC and in need of an AI chatbot, I usually turn to services like ChatGPT or Microsoft Copilot on the web. However, when I have my trusty iPhone in hand, I prefer to conveniently chat with an AI through a mobile app. For iOS users, there are several AI chat apps to choose from, but my favorites are OpenAI’s ChatGPT, Microsoft Copilot, and ChatOn.
Sometimes powered by ChatGPT and sometimes by their own models, these mobile apps function as expected – you submit a question or request, and the AI provides information or generates content. Some apps even offer additional features, such as voice input and chat history syncing.
Here are the AI chat apps I recommend:
1. ChatGPT
OpenAI provides an official and free iOS app for ChatGPT AI. This app, available in the App Store, offers similar functionality to the website. Users can ask the AI to analyze a photo, listen to responses, and generate images. With the mobile app, users can also input requests vocally.
To initiate a chat, users can either type their question or speak it into the app. ChatGPT Plus users have the option to switch between different models before submitting a request. Conversations are saved and synced to the user’s history for easy access.
2. Microsoft Copilot
Microsoft’s Copilot app, available on the App Store, combines traditional search functionality with an AI chatbot powered by GPT-4 Turbo through a partnership with OpenAI. Users can choose different conversation styles and switch between GPT-4 Turbo and an older model.
Users can speak their requests, upload photos for analysis, share responses, and listen to them being read aloud. The app also allows users to generate images based on their requests.
3. ChatOn
Powered by GPT-4o and Anthropic’s Claude and Stable Difusion API, ChatOn offers a free version with limited chats and responses, as well as a paid version with unlimited chats and more detailed answers. The app includes features such as YouTube video summaries, PDF summaries, web page summaries, photo analysis, image generation, and web searches.
Users can type or speak their requests, and the app also provides sample tasks and questions for inspiration. Premium features include the ability to upload PDFs for analysis, summarize web pages, conduct web searches, and more.
Overall, these AI chat apps offer a convenient and efficient way to interact with AI technology on your mobile device.
