Mengapa Bantuan Masih Sulit Masuk ke Gaza, dan Apakah ‘Emergency Pier’ Akan Membantu?

Amidst ongoing efforts from international governments and aid agencies to find ways to deliver crucial supplies to Gaza, experts are emphasizing the importance of land deliveries as the most efficient and cost-effective method. However, despite the availability of aid, the increasing desperation and hunger in Gaza are not being adequately addressed.

A new report from a global authority on food crises warns that up to 1.1 million people in Gaza could face deadly levels of hunger by mid-July. The United Nations has confirmed that there is enough food near Gaza’s border to feed the entire population, but challenges in the delivery process hinder the distribution of aid.

The complex land delivery route into Gaza involves multiple checkpoints, inspections, and transfers of aid from Egypt through Israel. Due to security issues, poor road conditions, and Israeli restrictions, deliveries to the northern part of Gaza have been largely halted, leaving many people without access to essential supplies.

Over the past weeks, the number of trucks arriving in Gaza falls short of what is needed to meet the basic food requirements of the population. Long lines at checkpoints, convoluted inspection processes, and rejection of critical goods further delay aid shipments.

UNRWA, the U.N. agency coordinating much of the aid distribution in Gaza, has highlighted the inefficiencies in the inspection process and called for improvements to speed up aid deliveries. Despite efforts to streamline the process, logistical challenges, security threats, and violence continue to impede the distribution of aid.

The dire situation in Gaza underscores the urgent need for improved coordination, increased efficiency in aid delivery, and enhanced security measures to ensure that vital supplies reach those in need.
