Apple introduced iOS 18 at its Worldwide Developers Conference 2024 keynote event in June and recently released the third developer beta of the software. The next iPhone operating system will offer a variety of new features, including enhanced customization options for the home screen, updates to the Messages app, and an updated Siri with Apple Intelligence. The general public can expect to access the operating system this fall.
While most users will not have access to iOS 18 until later this year, developers can currently download the second iOS 18 developer beta. It is recommended to download the beta on a secondary device to avoid any potential bugs or battery life issues.
iOS 18 will bring customizable home and lock screens, allowing users to personalize their app layout and icons. The Control Center will also receive an update, providing more controls for music and apps. The Messages app will feature the ability to schedule messages, react with Tapbacks, and format messages with text effects.
The operating system will also introduce the option to lock and hide certain apps, redesign the Photos app for easier navigation, and offer a new password manager app called Passwords. Additionally, iOS 18 will bring Apple Intelligence to certain iPhones, improve interactions with AirPods, upgrade the Notes app, introduce Game Mode, iPhone Mirroring, SharePlay screen sharing, and more ways to organize the Mail app.
