‘Melawan selama 40 tahun’ – komunitas kecil di Texas menghadapi Industri Besar | Lingkungan

\”Corpus Christi, Texas, US – \”This bay was even more beautiful in the beginning,\” says Encarnacion \”Chon\” Serna, a retired chemical engineer, as he reflects on Corpus Christi Bay, located just a few feet from his home in Portland, Texas. Serna and his wife raised their children in this house, where their grandchildren now play in the waters of the bay. However, with the threat of oil, gas, and petrochemical industries encroaching on the Gulf Coast and desalination projects being approved to discharge wastewater into the bay, Serna worries about the future of this cherished place. Nearby, the Port of Corpus Christi is planning to build two desalination plants, with more proposed in the area. Serna, along with other residents, is concerned about the impact these plants will have on the environment and their way of life.\”
