Fresh out of dental school in Gaza, these college graduates were full of ambition and dreams for the future. But just one week after completing their training, they found themselves in the midst of a devastating war. In the midst of blackouts and limited internet access, we managed to contact 34 of them through their class WhatsApp group.
These young dentists had big plans, but instead of starting their careers, they were faced with the grim reality of burying the dead and fearing for their own lives. The joy of their final exams celebrations, captured by a videographer, now seemed like a distant memory in the face of the ongoing conflict.
The students shared heartbreaking stories of loss and destruction. Many had lost loved ones, and some of their classmates were among the casualties. The war had brought unimaginable pain and suffering to their once peaceful lives.
As they struggled to survive in the midst of bombings and food shortages, these graduates showed resilience and strength in the face of adversity. Their stories of loss and survival paint a stark picture of the human cost of war in Gaza.
