‘We’re not going to pay more for your product just because there’s a tariff on the aluminium. That’s not our problem,’” Skupien says. “And because we’re a small business, we can’t afford to stockpile materials — we don’t have the cash flow to do that. So it’s a real challenge.”Skupien and other business leaders are hoping that Trump will reconsider his trade policies and take into account the negative impact they are having on American businesses. In the meantime, they are left scrambling to find solutions to mitigate the effects of the tariffs and keep their companies afloat.
