Apple Intelligence is the latest update to explore on the iPhone, while the Apple Watch is also receiving a range of new health, fitness, and safety tracking tools in WatchOS 11. The sleep apnea notifications feature from Apple has garnered attention, which can detect signs of moderate to severe sleep apnea when wearing the Apple Watch Series 10, Series 9, or Ultra 2 to sleep. Additionally, the new Vitals app and the ability to pause activity rings are included in this update.
WatchOS 11 is compatible with any Apple Watch from the Series 6 and later, as well as the second-gen SE. To install WatchOS 11, your iPhone must be paired with the Apple Watch and have iOS 18 installed. It is important to note that once you install the new version, you cannot revert back to WatchOS 10 or earlier versions.
Some of the standout features of WatchOS 11 include the ability to adjust activity rings, track vitals overnight with the Vitals app, monitor Training Load for workouts, and receive sleep apnea notifications. The Check In safety tool, redesigned Photos watch face, additional controls in the Remote app, and the Translate app are also new additions to WatchOS 11.
Other features to explore in WatchOS 11 include extra tools for tracking pregnancy in the Health app, Live Activities in the Smart Stack, offline mapping in Apple Maps for hikes, updated iMessage tapbacks, the Tides app for water conditions, and the Double Tap feature for navigating through apps. Since iOS 18 is required to try out WatchOS 11, it’s a good idea to explore the new features in both updates.
