Boman Martinez-Reid tentang menjaga hubungan dengan ‘The Bodashians’, memparodikan acara realitas TV, dan impian menjadi bintang pop

Boman Martinez-Reid fulfilled his dream of having his own TV series by creating multiple projects on YouTube, Instagram, and TikTok. He then signed a TV deal and landed a role in an A24 show, showcasing his deep understanding of reality TV. With 3 million followers on social media, Martinez-Reid gained popularity for his parodies of reality TV, including “The Bodashians” series inspired by the Kardashians. Now starring in A24’s “Overcompensating” and his own show “Made For TV,” Martinez-Reid represents the new wave of entertainment creators blurring digital and traditional media boundaries. In an interview with Mashable, he discussed his journey from creating YouTube series in high school to finding success on TikTok with his unique comedic style. “I initially didn’t care about The Kardashians, but my friend suggested we try parodying them for fun. We started the ‘Bodashians’ series and never looked back. We’re now on episode 61, which is mind-blowing. The Bodashians has become its own unique universe with its own rules, making no sense but also making perfect sense. It’s been a thrilling journey reinventing the same video repeatedly, but I’m enjoying every moment of it. Even after two or three years, I’m still having fun exploring the world of The Bodashians. People may not watch The Kardashians, but they definitely watch The Bodashians, and that’s what matters to me.” Reflecting on the past, it seemed impossible for me to achieve that goal. Falling into it was not as easy as I had anticipated. The drag episode was particularly challenging for me. I initially thought I would excel at it, but the reality was quite different. Despite my outward confidence, I was internally panicking at the thought of performing drag in front of my parents. However, the experience taught me that becoming a drag queen is transformative and exhilarating. It was a real eye-opener for me.

Transitioning into the world of movies has been a fast-paced journey for me. Acting has always been my passion, and I have been working hard to establish myself as an actor. Being part of A24’s comedy drama series “Overcompensating,” created by Benito Skinner, was an unexpected opportunity that I thoroughly enjoyed. The cast and crew made me feel at home, and I had a blast playing a character that was outside of my comfort zone.

The merging of digital and traditional media is a fascinating phenomenon in the entertainment industry. It is refreshing to see creators gaining recognition and opportunities in Hollywood. The blurring of lines between platforms like YouTube, Twitch, Netflix, and A24 signifies a shift in how entertainment is consumed and appreciated. I am excited to be part of this evolving landscape and to explore the endless possibilities that the internet offers for creativity and self-expression. My ultimate goal is to explore all facets of the entertainment industry, from acting to music, and to continue pushing boundaries in my career.

Selamat atas lagumu, by the way.
