Sejarawan Israel Ilan Pappe: ‘Ini adalah fase terakhir Zionisme’ | Berita Konflik Israel-Palestina

Copenhagen, Denmark – On a cold Saturday morning in Copenhagen, Ilan Pappe was seen warming up in a cinema hall, engaging in fluent Arabic conversation with one of the conference organizers. He sipped black coffee from a paper cup as he prepared to address the event hosted by the European Palestinian Network. Pappe, unlike other Israelis, had learned Arabic by immersing himself in the Palestinian culture and taking formal lessons.

The conference attracted hundreds of academics, officials, international rights activists, and concerned Danes who were appalled by Israel’s actions in Gaza. Pappe expressed his shock at Europe’s response to the genocide against Palestinians, labeling it as a failure of civilization.

In an interview with Al Jazeera, the renowned Israeli historian discussed the current phase of Zionism, describing it as more aggressive and ruthless than before. He also shared his concerns about the influence of Donald Trump’s presidency on Israel and the Middle East.

Regarding the ceasefire negotiations in Palestine, Pappe remained cautious, stating that peace might be a long-term process of decolonization. He emphasized the need for global solidarity and cooperation to combat injustice and bring about positive change.

Pappe also addressed the rise of far-right movements in Europe and their alliance with Israel, highlighting the common thread of Islamophobia. He stressed the importance of building alliances and organizations to counter such ideologies and work towards a more just and peaceful world.
