“It’s been great to pass on my experience and knowledge in a way that can help improve the overall guest experience. I never expected to be working in hospitality at this stage in my life, but I’m enjoying it and finding it fulfilling in a different way than my previous career,” Wilson Smith reflects.
The trend of older workers returning to the hospitality industry is likely to continue as employers recognize the value of their experience and dedication. As the sector continues to evolve and adapt to changing demands, having a mix of age groups in the workforce can only strengthen the industry as a whole.
For Wilson Smith and many others like him, working in hospitality in their later years is not just about earning a paycheck, but about staying active, engaged, and making a positive impact on the businesses they work for.
“Namun saya juga belajar banyak . . . dalam hal pandangan dan perspektif hidupnya, itu adalah hal yang saling menguntungkan; dengan campuran yang baik antara yang muda dan yang lebih tua di sini yang berfungsi sangat baik.”
