Proyek Rhyolite Ridge Milik Ioneer Menuju Tahap Konstruksi

The U.S. Federal Government’s Draft Environmental Impact Statement for the Rhyolite Ridge Lithium-Boron Project in Nevada positions the project to commence operations in 2027. Ioneer Ltd has moved closer to construction at the site following the Bureau of Land Management’s planned issuance of the draft EIS. This marks a significant milestone in the environmental permitting review process, with the draft document set to address the company’s efforts to redesign and relocate proposed project activities to protect the endangered Tiehm’s buckwheat species.

The draft EIS, which will be open for public comment starting April 19, is the first to be issued by the Biden Administration as part of its push to accelerate domestic lithium production. It reflects years of collaboration between Ioneer and various agencies, Tribal Nations, and local communities. The final EIS and Record of Decision are expected in October 2024, paving the way for construction to begin pending a positive ROD and Final Investment Decision.

Ioneer’s commitment to sustainability is evident in its efforts to protect Tiehm’s buckwheat and minimize environmental impacts. The company has invested in conservation efforts and plans to recycle half of the water used at the site. Additionally, the project will be entirely energy independent, generating excess steam to power operations.

With an estimated timeline for production to begin in 2027, Ioneer’s Rhyolite Ridge Lithium-Boron Project is poised to become a leading example of responsible and sustainable mining. The company’s dedication to working with local communities and federal agencies underscores its commitment to securing a domestic supply of critical minerals for the clean energy transition.
