Indonesia Raih Dua Emas dalam 400m Hurdles di AUG

The Indonesian contingent secured gold medals in both the men\’s and women\’s 400m hurdles events at the ASEAN University Games (AUG) 2024.

After the medal ceremony here on Tuesday, the men\’s 400m hurdles gold winner, Halomoan Edwin Binsar, expressed gratitude for his victory, which he said he will use as a stepping stone to face the XXI Aceh-North Sumatra National Sports Week (PON).

\”This event is my last tryout before PON, which is less than two months away. Hopefully, I can get the best result,\” he said in the athletic field of Surabaya State University (Unesa).

Binsar, who finished with a time of 52.98 seconds, said that all his competitors were tough.

Meanwhile, Nela Agustin, who bagged gold in the women\’s 400m hurdles event, said that she was not satisfied with the result though she finished as the champion because she failed to break the national record.

\”My target is to break the national record of 59 seconds. I finished with 60.9 seconds, which is a PON record, so I think it is still not enough,\” the athlete expounded.

For that reason, she said, she will train harder to achieve her goal of breaking the national record at the upcoming PON.

On the same occasion, the manager of the Indonesian athletics team, Mustara, stated that the achievements of the athletes, especially those who won gold medals, were close to their personal best targets.

\”Gold winners in athletics have their own targets and the results are not far from the targets, meaning that they are able to maintain their performance, especially in preparation for PON and the Paris Olympics,\” he expounded.
