As a seasoned outdoor lighting enthusiast, I have tried every type of light to brighten up my backyard patio. From fairy lights to path lights to standard string lights, I’ve tried them all. Unfortunately, none have been able to withstand the scorching South Carolina summers. That’s why I was thrilled to test out two new smart outdoor string lights from Nanoleaf and Lifx.
The Nanoleaf Matter Smart Multicolor Outdoor String Lights and the Lifx Outdoor SuperColor String Lights both offer individually addressable full-color and tunable white LED bulbs, making them incredibly versatile. Whether I want to host a themed party or just enjoy a quiet dinner al fresco, these lights can create the perfect ambiance. Additionally, both lights are compatible with major smart home platforms, allowing for easy control and automation.
During my two-week head-to-head test, I found that the Nanoleaf lights had a beautiful faceted bulb design and could extend up to 147 feet, while the Lifx lights offered impressive color blending and a sleek, modern design. In terms of light quality, Lifx had a wider range of tunable white light, while Nanoleaf had a unique cut glass design that created a soft, sparkly glow.
When it came to lighting effects and features, Lifx’s color blending was mind-bending, while Nanoleaf offered a larger selection of user-generated designs. In terms of cost and connectivity, Nanoleaf was more affordable and had more connection options, but Lifx was more reliable in terms of connectivity.
Overall, both string lights are durable and offer impressive lighting effects. While Lifx may have the edge in terms of features and ease of use, Nanoleaf’s unique design and overall look won me over. Whether you’re hosting a party or just want to add some ambiance to your outdoor space, these lights are sure to make your spring sparkle.
