For her first Race2Adventure experience, the author joined a Rhine River cruise through Switzerland, Germany, France, and the Netherlands. Despite not having specific training, she found herself welcomed by the international running community and quickly made friends who shared her passion for running and exploring.
The week-long adventure started in Basel, Switzerland, with a scavenger hunt in the city center before moving on to runs through the Black Forest in Germany and the forests of Strasbourg, France. Each day included opportunities to explore the local culture and cuisine, with highlights including a visit to a fairy tale-like Alsatian village and a scenic run through Rüdesheim’s vineyards in Germany.
The journey continued with a bike ride along the Rhine River to Koblenz, followed by runs through the Wildpark in Cologne, Germany. The author also had the chance to experience the Euro Cup festivities in Cologne and explore the vibrant city atmosphere.
The adventure concluded in Amsterdam, where participants cycled through Vondelpark before bidding farewell to new friends at a banquet aboard the ship. The experience was not just a vacation but a transformative journey that combined physical activity, cultural immersion, and exploration in some of Europe’s most beautiful destinations.
